Walter M. Areford, 72, of 229 North Porter street, Waynesburg, died at 2:15 a.m. Sunday, July 2, 1950, in Greene County Memorial Hospital. Mr. Areford had been ill for the past five years and his condition had been serious for the past two weeks.
A lifelong resident of Greene County, he was born November 29, 1877, in Cumberland Township, a son of the late John Calvin Areford, Sr., and Mary Ellen McClelland Areford. He had lived in Waynesburg for the past 30 years and for seven years was janitor of the First Presbyterian Church of which he was a member. He was a blacksmith by trade and followed his trade in Carmichaels and Mt. Morris before moving to Waynesburg.
He was married August 3, 1897, to Alberta Lemley of Mt. Morris.
