Richard "Coach, Dick" Hindman, age 87, of Grove City, Ohio, passed away at his home on Monday, January 28, 2013. He was born in Toledo, Ohio, on October 3, 1925. He was preceded in death by the love of his life and his wife of 36 years, Norma "Jean" Coriell Hindman, who passed away just 12 days earlier. Dick was also preceded in death by his parents, Alpha (Westfall) and Hugh D. Hindman, his first wife Mary Jean Fauver Hindman, and his ornery and loving brothers, Hugh and Bill Hindman.

Dick was always a "teacher of life" to all those who were fortunate enough to be guided and mentored by his example of integrity, strength, wisdom and respect. His influence and inspiration lives on in everyone he met. He graduated from Ohio Wesleyan University and received his Masters Degree from The Ohio State University. He proudly served his country as a Naval Officer in WWII.

Dick was a math teacher and coached football, baseball (Hall of Fame) and wrestling at his alma mater, Columbus North High School, before going to work at the Ohio Education Association where he retired as Director of Research. In retirement he continued to stay very active with family and friends, travel and golf.

Dick is survived by his children and step-children Hugh (Brenda) Hindman, Susan Jensen, Rick (Karla) Hindman, Patty (Dominic) Fetta, Michael Wiseman, Mary (Scott) George, Beth (Brian) Carey, grandchildren Andy, Sam (Rio), Richard (Stephanie), Holly, Jack, Willy, Thomas, Kirsten, Sara (Jeff), Ryann, Alexandra (Christian), Cassie, Mara (James), Stephanie, Riva, and great grandchildren Gavin, Kayden, Grayson and Kendall. He is also survived by a sister-in-law Catherine Fauver. Dick will be missed by a countless number of people that he considered extended family, including those who coached with him, played for him, and worked with him

Visitation hours will be from 2:00 - 4:00 PM, Sunday, February 3, 2013, at the Schoedinger Grove City Chapel, 3920 Broadway, Grove City, followed by a memorial service at 4:00 PM.
