Dennis L. Houpt, 62, of Bargersville, Indiana passed away Tuesday, February 19, 2013 at Indiana University Health Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis, Indiana. He was born March 30, 1950 in Franklin, Indiana to Vane and Mary (Kegley) Houpt. He was a 1968 graduate of Center Grove High School in Greenwood, Indiana. He was a member of First Christian Church in Bargersville, was an avid fan of Indiana University Basketball and enjoyed gardening. He was a partner with his late father Vane in construction, later working with Bill Utterback at D and B Custom Builders, and most recently with his son Neal in Houpt Custom Homes.
Survivors include a son, Neal D. Houpt (Laura M. Noel) of Bargersville; stepdaughter Lisa M. Meadows (Marc) of Bargersville; brother James N. Houpt (Diane) of Greenwood; brother-in-law Max A. Wray of Bargersville; four grandchildren, Alissa Houpt, Maggie Houpt, Brayden Houpt, and Kota Noel; and nine nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Carolyn Wray, and half-sisters Lois Dresslar and Sue Haffey.
Reverend Kenneth Rickett and Reverend Roger Gifford will conduct a service Friday, February 22, 2013 at 5 P.M. at Swartz Family Community Mortuary And Memorial Center, 300 South U.S. 31 (Morton Street) in Franklin, Indiana. Friends may call Friday from 2 P.M. until service time at the mortuary. Burial will be in Bluff Creek Cemetery in Greenwood,
