Margaret was born May 19, 1939 in Brewton, Alabama, to the late, legendary country and western singer, Hank and Willa J. (Murphy) Locklin. She had been a resident of Chipley since 1972, coming from Milton. Margaret was a member of Blue Lake Baptist Church, where she was a former secretary and Sunday school teacher, she had also been a babysitter.
She was predeceased by her husband, Richard L. Kent, and a sister, Beth Padgett.
Survivors include one son, Richard Kent, Jr. and wife Denise of Chipley; two daughters: Rebecca Guettler and husband Alfred of Chipley, Stacy Waldrip and husband Scott of Chipley; two brothers: Maurice Locklin of Milton and Hank Adam Locklin of Nashville, Tenn.; a sister in law, Mary L. Carr; 11 grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Friday, February 22, 2013 at 3:00 P.M. at Blue Lake Baptist Church with the Rev. Tim Evans officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to services. Interment will follow in Blue Lake Baptist Church Cemetery. Brown Funeral Home of Chipley is in charge of the arrangements. The family suggests those wishing to do so, make contributions to Covenant Hospice, 4215 Kelson Ave. Suite E., Marianna, Florida 32446.
