Knight of Black Friars, London, and in right of his wife, of Horton, Northamptonshire.

Esquire to the Body of the Kings Henry VII & Henry VIII, Knight of the Body of King Henry VIII. Steward of the King's lands in Pembrokeshire, King's spear, Sheriff of Northamptonshire, Keeper of Rockingham Castle, Chamberlain on the households of Henry FitzRoy, Duke of Richmond and Queen Katherine Parr, his niece and last wife of Henry VIII.

Second son of Sir William Parr, Knight of the Garter of Westmorland and Elizabeth FitzHugh. Grandson of Sir Thomas Parr and Alice Tunstall, Sir Henry FitzHugh and Alice de Neville. Born about 1483.

Husband of Mary Salisbury, daughter and co-heiress of Sir William Salisbury of Horton and Elizabeth, daughter of Thomas Wylde. They had four daughters who survived infancy:
* Maud, wife of Sir Ralph Lane
* Anne, wife of sir John Digby
* Elizabeth, wife of Nicholas Wodhull
* Mary, wife of Sir Thomas Tresham

William took part in the French wars from 1512, was knighted 25 Sept 1513 at Tournai, accompanied King Henry VIII to the Field of the Gold Cloth in France, held a prominent part in suppressing the Lincolnshire rebellion of 1536, and was created Lord Parr of Horton 23 Dec 1543.

His marriage was reported to be very happy, and he was quite a family man. When his brother, Thomas died, he supported his sister-in-law, Maud, and had her children educated side by side with his own daughters.

Upon his death in 1547 he was buried at Horton, where the inscription on his monument wrongly gives his year of death as 1546. With no male heirs, the barony became extinct.
