Delaware County recorded its ninth traffic death of 1969 Sunday afternoon at a county road intersection west of Eaton. There were 16 deaths at this time a year ago.
Oral Asberry, 46, RR 1, Gaston, was killed with his car was struck broadside at the intersection of county roads 200-W and 1000-N, according to sheriff's officers and state police. Five other persons were hospitalized including the victim's wife, Mary, 45, who is in satisfactory condition at Ball Hospital, and their daughter, Mrs. Joy George, 26, who is also reported in satisfactory condition.

The Miller car was southbound on 200-W, officers said, and the Asberry's car was going east on 1000-N. The cars collided at the intersection with no evidence of skid marks to show either car tried to stop. The Miller car was imbedded in the driver's side of Asberry's car and both cars went off the road into a fence and telephone pole guy wire. The pole fell across the Miller car, which came to rest on top of the Asberry car's trunk.
The victim was a native of Albany, Ky., and had farmed in the Gaston area for about 30 years. He attended the Wesleyan United Methodist Church at Gaston.
Surviving in addition to his wife and daughter are: a son, Max, at home; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Asberry, Albany, Ky.; and a sister, Janica Asberry, and a brother, Cadel Asberry, both of Albany, Ky.
Funeral arrangements are being completed by the Meeks Mortuary.
