A feeling of deep regret and sadness was widespread in the Livermore Valley this week as the result of the untimely death of Willard Allen, son of Mr. and Mrs. Sylvanus Allen, which occurred on Tuesday morning following an operation for appendicitis several days before. The news of the operation came as a surprise and when it was followed a few days later by the announcement of his death it was a shock to the entire community.

He attended the Townsend school and until recently was a member of the second year class of the Livermore high school, where he was a popular student and a member of the athletic teams. His death was deeply regretted by his schoolmates and other friends in the valley, as well as by the wide circle of acquaintances and friends of his family.

Deceased is survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Sylvanus Allen, two sisters--Mrs. Leo Hansen and Miss Viola Allen--and three brothers--Clifford, Roy and Earl Allen.

The funeral was held on Thursday afternoon from Foresters Hall under the auspices of Court Livermore, No. 77, F. of A. Chief Ranger Percy Groth conducted the fraternal ceremonies. Rev. N. S. Fiscus of the Presbyterian Church spoke, and the eulogy was pronounced by Principal Herbert Lee of the Livermore high school. The entire student body of the high school attended.
