in Tioga County, New York.
They were the parents of three daughters;
Albertena Mary, Esther Etta, Estella Jane.
The family is recorded on the 1860 census
at Trempealeau, Trempealeau, Wisconsin.

Russell Gilbert Allen died August 22, 1907 after a lingering illness of over four years.
The ceremonial part of the funeral service was in charge of the Masonic fraternity and was carried out in a very commendable and impressive manner.
Mr. Allen was a charter member of of the local chapter and one of the oldest residents of the town and county. He will be missed by a wide circle of acquaintances and friends.
He was a member of the Methodist Church and a charter member of Beacon Lodge #495 of Hartley.
He was a kind husband and a good father.

ALLEN FAMILY GENEALOGY:

In 1855 Russell and Mary migrated westward with other Bunnell family members. They settled first at Pierce Township in Illinois, then continued on to Wisconsin.
In November 1869 he was one of the earliest settlers to arrive in O'Brien County, Iowa, leaving his family in Wisconsin.
He came upon his judgement as to the quality of the land after reaching Storm Lake. He brought eight horses, a lumber wagon and buggy. For a livelihood he hauled merchandise from several parts - Fort Dodge, Denison, Minnesota, and other points. The following spring he bought a blacksmith shop.
In the summer of 1870 he returned to Trempealeau, sold his property, packed up
his family and brought them west to O'Brien County.
