Norman Pepper

Norman Pepper of Beallsville died yesterday in Washington Hospital. He was 71.

Mr. Pepper was born Oct. 24, 1908, in Pennsylvania, a son of the late Elva and Ora Tate Pepper.

He was a member of the United Mineworkers of America and was a retired employee of Jones and Laughlin Steel Corp. General Machine Shop at the Vesta No. 5 Mine.

Survivors include his widow, Della Jones Pepper; one daughter, Mrs. John (Carol Ann) Shashura of Vestaburg; one sister, Mrs. Fred (Virginia) Smith of Allison, and five grandchildren.

Friends will be received today from 7 to 9 p.m. and tomorrow from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. in the Greenlee Funeral Home, Beallsville.

At some point in the early 1930s, Norman was married to Pauline Eutsey. It was probably before 1935 since the 1940 census below shows that he and Pauline were living in the same dwelling in 1935. According to a daughter of Pauline, this marriage lasted about 20 years.
