Fred was the son of Allen Carter and Margaret Lynch. He had two older brothers, Jesse V. and Virgil E. He had numerous step brothers and sisters as this was his dad's third marriage and his mother's second.
Fred married Elsie Simmerly Feb. 3,1918 in Bourbon, Missouri. They had a daughter, Viola Vera. Fred and Elsie divorced. On June 7, 1956 he and Melatie Alice Davis married in Flagstaff, Arizona. They returned to Bourbon, Missouri where they were together until he passed away in 1967. Alice returned to California where she had family. She passed away and is buried there.
