Willard Thomas Thompson, 85, died at 7:15 AM Friday [Nov. 6, 1970] in Lafayette Health Care, where he had been a resident for a year, following illness since July, 1969. Born in Wea Township, he had lived in Lafayette 53 years. He married Lydia Kathryn "Kay" Nicewander on December 23, 1908, in Lafayette, and she died in 1957.
Mr. Thompson was a graduate of Wea High School and had been a machinist at the Ross Gear plant here for 39 years until his retirement in 1955. He was a member of Jehovah's Witness Church and United Auto Workers Local 531.
Surviving are a son, Ronald M. Thompson (wife Isabel) of West Lafayette; a daughter, Mrs. Ray G. Wood, also of Lafayette; 7 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Arthur Raymond Thompson in 1957.
