OBITUARY
The Quad-City Times, November 20, 2000

DAVENPORT -- Services for Verne P. Crawford, Davenport, will be 11:30 a.m. today at the Runge Mortuary Chapel. Visitation is 10-11 a.m. at the mortuary. Burial will be in Davenport Memorial Park. Mr. Crawford died Saturday, Nov. 18, 2000, at Crest Health Center, Davenport. He had been a farmer, an assembler and a TV repairman. He also was employed at Rock Island Arsenal, retiring in 1972.

Verne Crawford was born May 11, 1910, in Keswick, Iowa, the son of Merrill and Kate (Junkins) Crawford. He married Maude Susan Hall Eaton on Nov. 16, 1946, in Davenport. She died Nov. 12, 1997. Mr. Crawford was an Army veteran of World War II, serving in the Signal Corps. He was a 50-year member of Newcomb Presbyterian Church, Davenport, serving as Deacon and Sunday school teacher and he was a former member of the Davenport Moose Lodge. He enjoyed woodworking and gardening.

Memorials may be made to the Newcomb Presbyterian Church educational fund or CASI. Survivors include his daughters, Marilyn Nielsen, DeWitt, Iowa, and Carol Reimers, Bloomington, Ind.; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and a sister, Lois Wuestenberg, DeWitt. He was preceded in death by a sister; and a grandson.
