They had ten children with eight surviving by 1900: Laura, John, Frank, Philip, Mary, Oliver, Christopher, Albert "Berty", Regina May, and Cora Bell. She was the daughter of John and Mary Hull Brillhart who married on 22 March 1835 in Stark County, Ohio. In 1910, after Christian's death, Catherine was in Hillsdale County, Michigan with her daughter,Cora, and died there from nephritis at the age of 81 years 3 months and 19 days.
