Dorothe Lee Baker(Farmer)Woods, age 86, of Sigourney, died Saturday, February 16, 2013, at her home. Dorothe was born June 29, 1926, in Sigourney, to Oscar and Lesta(Engle)Baker. She attended school in Washington, Iowa and graduated from Sigourney High School in 1944. Dorothe married Ernest Farmer in 1944 and he was killed in Germany in 1945. On September 6, 1947, she married Harold Woods in Sigourney. A homemaker most of her life, Dorothe worked as a Nurses Aide at Keokuk County Heatlth Center for five years. Dorothe was a member of the Sigourney United Methodist Church, the Keokuk County Historical Society, Daughters of the American Colonists, Mahaska Chapter and Daughters of the American Revolution, James McElwee Chapter. She enjoyed her family, genealogy and reading.

Survivors include her husband of 65 year: Harold of Sigourney; four sons: Don(Farmer)Woods(Pauline)of Parker, Colorado, Jon(Farmer)Woods, Hal(Barbara) Woods and Bob(Linda)Woods, all of Muscatine; two daughters: Jan Woods Conner(Dan)of Muscatine and Kay Woods Ruggiero(Vincent) of Des Moines, nine grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.

Besides Ernest, she was preceded in death by her parents one brother: Clyce Baker and one sister. Bernadine Baker Springman.

Private family services will be held at Powell Funeral Home in Sigourney. There will be no visitation. Burial will be at a later date at Pleasant Grove Cemetery in Sigourney. A mmeorial fund has been established for the Sigourney Public Library. Powell Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Sigourney is caring for Dorothe and her family.
