Ada Elizabeth (Barnes) Zellers, 90 of Rolling Prairie, Indiana passed away on Saturday February 16, 2013 at La Porte Hospital, Indiana. She had been a resident of Miller's Merry Manor in New Carlisle, Indiana.
Ada was born August 21, 1922 to Harley & Ruth May (Gilbert) Barnes in Rolling Prairie, Indiana and was a lifelong resident. Ada is a member of Post #9423 VFW Ladies Auxiliary. She worked very hard on the family farm and enjoyed baking, turtle fishing, watching the Cubs win or lose, and being with family and friends. Ada was a strong willed lady whom will be dearly missed!
She is survived by her son, Richard (Peggy) Bennitt of Plymouth, IN, a step-daughter Alison (Solon) Howard of McCalla, AL. Along with many grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, and a step grandchild. Also, surviving is a brother Dale (Joyce) Barnes of Rolling Prairie, IN and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her first husband Foster Bennitt, her subsequent husband Lester Zellers and a close friend Bill Baird; her sister Barbara Ann Barnes, her brother Robert Barnes, a son Harry Bennitt, a grandson Woody Bennitt and two step sons Bruce & Wade Zellers.
Memorial may be made to the Rolling Prairie VFW Post 9423 Auxiliary .
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 12 noon on February 20, 2013 at Cutler Funeral Home & Cremation Center in La Porte, IN with Rev. Ransom Ebersole officiating. Burial will follow in Rolling Prairie Cemetery. Family and friends will gather from 10AM -12PM prior to the service.
Pallbearers are Wayne Davis, grandson; Richie Brown, grandson; Ed Barnes, nephew; Kyle Barnes, great nephew; Zachery Anderson, great grandson; and Don Stoner, nephew in law.
