Before the time of Virginia's birth it was believed by her Uncle Will that she would be a boy. When she was just little he began calling her Billy, and eventually the rest of of family did too.

Billy attended business college in Springfield, Missouri after graduation from Dadeville High School. She was married for a short time to Coy Dodd. They have a son Charles Edward Dodd born March 21, 1942. Both Billy and son Charles eventually settled on California.

Note by "Billy's" mother 1988 - Billy had lived in Holtville for many years, but was selling her place there and had moved to Salinas to be closer to her daughter, Valerie.

Virginia Lee Marrs of 1964 North Main, Salinas, died Saturday at Natividad Medical Center following an illness.
A native of Missouri, she had lived in Salinas for three months. She was a homemaker. She is survived by five sons: Richard Marrs of Tulare, Robert Marrs of Holtville, Paul Marrs of Bakersfield, Albert Marrs, Jr. of Bakersfield and Charles Dodd of Exeter; her mother Hazel Maze of Dadeville, Missouri; one sister Elizabeth Barker of Woodlake, California; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Albert Marrs, in 1972. At her request, no services have been scheduled. Interment is to be private.
