DAVID HAMILTON OF PLAINGROVE, DIES
Prominent Resident of the County Succumbs to Long Illness – Was Widely Known

David Hamilton, one of Lawrence county's prominent men, died at his residence in Plaingrove Tuesday afternoon at 3 o'clock, after an illness of seven weeks, due to Bright's disease. He was well known in this city, and by all was respected and held in high regard, as he was a man of many fine characteristics. J. C. Offutt of North Jefferson street, is a brother-in-law. Mr. Hamilton was 78 years of age last November. He was a native of Washington county but had spent the greater part of his life in Plaingrove township. He was a member of the Plaingrove Presbyterian church, in which he was one of the leading workers. One of a family of 12 children born to George and Margaret Hamilton, he is survived by four sisters, and leaves also two children, 13 grandchildren, and one great-grandchild. His wife preceded him in death not long ago. Of his nine children, all but two are living. They are Dr. John Hamilton of Warren, Pa., George A. of Plaingrove, Dr. Alex B. of Laramie, Wyo., Mrs. Stewart McCreary of New Wilmington, David of Youngstown, Mrs. Elizabeth Cole, at home, and Miss Margaret, also at home. His sisters are Mrs. Maria Glass of Evans City, Mrs. Harriet Green of Cleveland, Mrs. Margaret Green of Franklin, and Mrs. Thomas McKnight of Oakdale. Rev. F. B. Shoemaker will conduct the funeral services, which will be held at the family residence Friday morning at 11 o'clock. The interment will be made in Plaingrove U. P. cemetery.
