Slim played Major League Baseball from 1920 to 1928 as a pitcher for the Philadelphia Athletics and Boston Red Sox. He was credited with 19 wins in 1925 with the Philadelphia Athletics. He gave up 3 HR to Babe Ruth the year the "Babe" got 60 HR's. Bryan had attended Howard Payne Academy where he was noticed by pro-scouts. He was 6' 6" tall.
