Sarah Bell Rion Abernathy

Services for Sarah Bell Rion Abernathy, 89, of Murfreesboro, who died Saturday, July 12, 2003, at NHC Health Care, will be 4:30 p.m. today at Jennings & Ayers Chapel, with burial at Evergreen Cemetery. Bro. Wayne Lankford will officiate.

A native and lifelong resident of Rutherford County, she was the daughter of the late Ernest Irwin and Carrie Bell Rion. She was preceded in death by her husband, the late Jack Reuel Abernathy Sr.

She is survived by son Jack Abernathy Jr., of Sevierville; daughter Betty Abernathy Flinkow, of Franklin; five grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. She was a former school teacher and Commissary Officer at Arnold Engineering in Tullahoma and a longtime employee of Rion's Flower Shop. Memorials may be made to Stones River Manor Benevolent Fund.

John Hood, Ben Cates, Steve Cates, Robert (Bobby) Blair, Tim Corley, Thom Corley, Rion Corley, Jack Abernathy III and Eric Abernathy will serve as pallbearers.

She attended East Main St. Church of Christ.

Visitation will be 3-4:30 p.m. today at Jennings & Ayers. 615-893-2422.
