Evelyn Ackerman

Evelyn Ruth Goebel Ackerman was
the daughter of John and Kate
Vaught Goebel, was born on August
12, 1917, in Topeka, Kansas and
died on May 3, 1991 in a hospital
at Boise City, Oklahoma.

She moved to Centrailia with her
parents at an early age and attended
school there. Evelyn was a long
time resident of Centralia. She was
a faithful member of the Vermillion
Christian Church and belonged to
several organizations in Vermillion
and Seneca. She also wrote poetry.
In later years she enjoyed traveling
and visited many places.

She married Charles Barber on June
5, 1934 at Centralia. To this union
five children were born.

Charles died in January 1978. On
October 14, 1984 she was married
to Vern Ackerman. He died in
November 1985.

Due to ill health she moved in
November 1990 to Garden City to
make her home with a son, Harold
and family.

She is survived by two sons, Harold
Barber, Garden City and Ralph
Barber, Chesapeake Bay, VA; one
daughter, Irene Shaw, Dalhart, Texas
three step-children; four sisters,
June Perryman, Sacramento, Calif,
Jean Keithley, Oneida, Willah
Bowran, Corcoran, Calif. Freda
Carpenter, Springfield, Oregon; two
brothers, Louis Goebel, Orville, CA.
and John Goebel, Sacramento, CA;
seven granchildren and several
great-grandchildren.

Preceding her in death were two
sons. Freddie in 1974 and Chris in
1982, one sister, Margaret Creiver.

Inurnment was in the Vermillion
Cemetery.
