Pete operated a grist mill at Forest Hill, Union County (Pennsylvania), and made a flour called "black beauty," the most expensive kind, among other kinds of flour. Harvey Hilkert, Mary Ellen's nephew (and son of her younger brother, Jim), worked for Pete at the mill about 1905 or 1906. Pete and Mary lived at Montandon, Union County.
