Luther was the son of Alvin & Sarah L. (Poe) Stinson.

He married Cynthia Wyatt in Neosho on Feb. 1, 1896. They had four daughters: Marget, Minnesota "Minnie," Daisy, & Della May.

He had lived in Neosho 18 years when he died at 6:55 p.m. on May 6, 1941. The cause of death is shown as unknown on his death certificate, however, he had suffered with Chronic Nephritis and Chronic Myocarditis. He had lived 69 years, 4 months, & 21 days.

His daughter, Della Crabtree, was the informant on his death certificate. He was buried May 8.

His daughter, Della, is also buried in Hornet Cemetery (FAG memorial #10533107)
