NOTE: Daniel Alfred Berkenstock used the spelling with a "k" in his Selective Service documents, as appears in the following obituary, although his father apparently used the Bergenstock spelling. Daniel's daughter, Ruth, appears to have used Berkenstock like her father - R. A. Post

"Funeral of Alfred Berkenstock - Funeral services for Alfred Berkenstock, 67, who died late Friday night at his home near Scipioville after a long illness, were held at 11 o'clock Monday morning at Scipioville Presbyterian Church, the Rev. Harry Stubbs of Auburn and Rev. Joel L. Wade of Fleming, officiating. Mr. Berkenstock is survived by his wife, Mrs. Cora Berkenstock; a daughter, Mrs. Ruth Culver of Auburn; two stepsons, Herbert Winters of Port Byron, and Coral Winters of Detroit, Mich.; two grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Emma Evans of Milton, Pa., and Mrs. Walter King of Port Byron; two brothers, Fred of Milton, Pa., and Charles of Scipio. Burial was in Evergreen Cemetery, Scipioville."
