Karen S. Benn, 63, of Cook, died Thursday, Feb. 14, 2013, at the Cook Nursing Home. She was born May 31, 1949, in Minneapolis, the daughter of Sidney and Kathryn (Larsen) Benn.

She lived her childhood years in North Dakota. Karen moved back to Cook with her family and graduated from Cook High School in 1968. She lived and worked in Fargo for a few years after graduation, then returned to Cook, where she had since resided. Karen passionately volunteered many years at the Cook Adult Day Care Center. She was a member of the former Cook Congregational Church for many years. She enjoyed the challenges of solving puzzles, liked playing bingo, and had a talent for artwork, especially drawing and sketching. Her kindly demeanor made her a friend to many and she enjoyed visiting with others. Karen had a positive attitude and wonderful outlook on life, always seeing the good in people.

Karen is survived by her sister, Nancy (Roger) Lindbeck; nieces, Heather (Sam) O'Brien and Jennifer Brandon; two great-nieces; and one great-nephew.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Sidney (1990) and Kathryn Benn Cole (2004); and a niece, Cassandra "Cassie" Brandon (2000).

Interment in the Cook Community Cemetery.
