Maggie Aughtaway Walker was the daughter of Thomas M. Walker and his first wife Caroline Gage. She was born in Missouri and grew up there. The name "Aughtaway" was a family name given to Maggie. That name appears in the Bible of Florence Ellen Hammons Walker, the wife of Maggie's brother John D. Walker.

On August 31, 1893, Aught married Joseph Francis Hammonds. She was 17 years old at the time of that marriage. The marriage license states that Mr. Walker gave his consent to the marriage.

According to the 1900 census, Joseph and Aught were living in Dunklin County, Missouri and had three sons, Jessey born in December 1894, William Homer born in April 1897 and Elmer born in February 1898. Aught's younger brother John Sylvester Hammons was living with the family. Both of John's parents had died.

Sometime after the census was taken in June of 1900, Aught and Joseph left Missouri with a group of families to travel to Texas. The group included Aught's brother John D. Walker and his family, Aught's brother John Sylvester Hammons, and may have included Aught and John D. Walker's brother William Walker and his wife. Aught's husband Joseph died en route to Texas on November 19, 1900, and was buried somewhere along the wagon train road.

After Aught arrived in Texas she was trying to raise the kids and farm. The neighbors were helping the family. She was trying to raise cotton. Accoding to Aught's grand nephew Glenn Walker, Aught had a daughter named Tibble born before they left Missouri, on the way to Texas, or after the family arrived in Texas. According to Glenn Walker, Aught's daughter Tibble died with appendicitis. The official death record indicates that "Tibbie" died on September 2, 1905 while Aught was living in Belott. The official death record cited "congestion" as the cause of death.

Maggie Hammons married William Robert "Bob" Minter on December 28, 1905, in Crockett, Texas. Bob Minter was a widower whose wife Mollie Fuller Minter had died in 1903 leaving Bob with an infant son Lonnie.

Maggie and Bob Minter had sons Alfred Minter born in 1908, Delbert H. Minter born about 1910, and Winfred Wesley "Dick" Minter born about 1910. Their daughter Emma Minter was born on December 7, 1915.

Maggie died in January of 1917 at the age of 41 years in Wilbarger County, Texas. Her death certificate names her as Maggie Masouria Minter, althought that name never appears on any other document for Maggie.
