Mr. Edward Maxwell Harris, age 74,141 West Peel Rd, Rome passed away Tuesday morning in a local hospital.
Mr. Harris as born in Decatur, Ala. on April 3,1929, son of the late William Samuel Harris and the late Annie Mae Noojin Harris. Prior to his retirement he was employed for several years with Harbert Construction Co. at Plant Bowen. He was a member of Sunny Hill Baptist Church. Mr. Harris was a veteran of the U. S. Army. He is proceeded in death by his first wife, the former Maleata May Baurm on Dec. 25. 1962, and by his late wife, the former Glenda Kerce on April 7 1969.
Survivors include four daughters, Mrs. Julia May Bowman of Rome, Mrs. Florence Kay Ferguson of Rome, Mrs. Maleata Ann Carter of Rome and Mrs. Cathie Calhoun of Rome, a son, Ralph Edward Harris of Rome, three sisters, Mrs. Ava Neil Hailstone of Rome. Mrs. Dorthy Summers of Rome and Mrs. Lois Faye Green of Rome; a special friend, Mrs. Maude Hartline of Gaylesville, Ala. and her children, Sherry, Amanda, Charles, Barbara and Patrick; six grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. in the Chapel at Henderson & Sons Funeral with Rev. Mikel Garrett officiating. Interment will follow in the family lot in Mizpah Cemetery, near Kingston with the American Legion Post #5 Honor Guard extending military honors.
The family will receive friends at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home this evening from 6 p.m. until 8 p. m. At other hours, they may be contacted at the residence.
Pallbearers are requested to assemble at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home Thursday at 10:30a.m. and include Lee Carter, Junior Bowman, Paul Bell, Jerry Ingle, Christopher Bedford and Joshua Summers.
