Ruth E. Hiller, age 72, of Toledo, passed away February 14, 2005, in Mesa, Arizona, while there visiting her son. She was born in Ironville, Ohio on March 16, 1932, to Leonard and Ella Hartford. Ruth was a lover of animals often turning her home into a small zoo rather than turn a stray animal away. She also was a collector of salt and pepper shakers and an excellent poet. Ruth was known as a very generous woman always giving to those who would ask.

She is survived by her loving family; children, Don (Kathy) Hardin, Dale (Patti) Hardin, Diane (Ken Jr.) Wills, Bill Hardin, and Greg (Leigh) Hiller; grandchildren, Justin, Michelle, Brooke, Dru, Ryan, Daniel and Austin; step-grandchildren, Ian and Tiffany; eleven great-grand-children; sisters, Virginia "Ginger" Edwards, Hazel Wolf, Thelma (Chuck), Juanita (Galen) Groves, Ellen Carol (Bert) Boros; brother-in-law, George Friesel and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Wilbert Hardin and Austin Hiller; son, Edward Hardin; brother, Lawrence Hartford and sister, Helen Friesel.

Visitation will be on Thursday from 2 to 9 p.m. at Maison-Dardenne-Walker, 501 Conant in Maumee, where services will be held on Friday at 12 noon with Rev. Greg Peatee officiating. Interment will be at Ottawa Hills Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association or the American Lung Association.
