John Sheetz was a farmer and the postmaster for Carsonville, PA, for eight years, and also ran the general store in Carsonville. He was very popular, as well as a prosperous businessman in the vicinity; owned 126 acres of land in Wayne Twp., and 1100 acres of timberland in Centre county, PA. He was a school director, and auditor of Jefferson Twp., both for three years, as well as a Democrat, and a member of the Methodist Episcopal Church. This information was found in the Commemorative Biographical Encyclopedia of Dauphin County, Pa., 1896, by Runk & Co., publishers., pg. 757. He is also named as a s/o William Sheetz earlier in the article. In 1914 he and his 2nd wife Agnes were godparents at the christening of their great niece, Arlene Sarah Hoffman, as this was written down in her baby book.
