Newton H. Billings, 73, of 4797 Tutwiler, a retired auto mechanic, died Friday at Methodist Hospital. He was a member of Faith Temple. Services will be at 3 p.m. today at Citizens Funeral Home in West Memphis, with burial in Crittenden Memorial Park at Marion.
He leaves his wife, Mrs. Mary Billings; two stepdaughters, Mrs. Doyle Weaver of Wooddale, Ill., and Mrs. James Little of Meridian, Miss.; a son, Alton Billings of Memphis, three brothers, M.A. Billings, Herman Billings and Starling Billings, all of Memphis; two sisters, Mrs Jack Rettinger and Mrs. Bea Self, both of Poplarville, Miss.; 11 grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren.
His second wife, Mary A. Billings, shares a stone with her husband but in reality it's a cenotaph. She is actually buried at Forest Hill Cemetery East. That's why she is linked twice to this memorial.
