Funeral for Lois LaMae Mattoon Gilbreath-Barton, 92, Apache, will be held at the First United Methodist Church, Apache, OK, Sunday, February17, at 2:00pm with Pastor Chris Stinnett and Reverend Bud Jones officiating. Burial will follow at Cache Creek Cemetery, Apache, under the direction of Crews Funeral Home, Apache. She passed away in Lawton, Thursday, Feb 14, 2013.

Lois was born on a farm in rural Apache on November 5, 1920 to Cecil and Mae (Braden) Mattoon. She was a beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was a lifelong member of the First United Methodist Church of Apache where she served her church as children's superintendent, youth director and taught Sunday school for over thirty years. She was also active in the community and was a member of the Apache Study Club where she served in many capacities including president; a member of the Apache Genealogy Club; and a member of the Boone Home Demonstration Club serving this organization over the years as president, vice-president, secretary and chair of every committee. She served as past president of the Apache Library Board and was a 4-H club leader for many years helping students who attended Boone Elementary School.

Lois married Walter Gilbreath in April 1941. Lois and Walter were married 53 years and raised three sons, Kermit, Victor and Mark, before he passed away in July 1994. They were in business together from 1946-1968 providing the Apache community with everything from cars to farm equipment; and hardware to plumbing supplies. In 1995 Lois became reacquainted with her high school sweetheart; and in September 1996 married Victor Barton. Lois and Victor spent fourteen golden years together before he died in 2010.

Lois is survived by one son Kermit Gilbreath and wife Sandy; two daughters-in-law, Johnetta Gilbreath and Karen Gilbreath; six grandchildren, Shannon Meshell and husband Randy, Shane Gilbreath and wife Tonya, Melissa Bridges and husband Jason, Adam Gilbreath and wife Tamara, Brandan Gilbreath and wife Kara and Cortney Sorrell and husband Tom; ten great-grandchildren, Tatum Gilbreath, Shauni Gilbreath, Dacie Bridges, Lane Bridges, Bode Paul Bridges, Sibella Meshell, Averi Gilbreath, Carter Gilbreath, Ashlynn Sorrell and Kasen Gilbreath.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two sons, Vic Gilbreath and Mark Gilbreath; one sister, Velva Long; five brothers, Leo Mattoon, Denzil Mattoon, Irvin Mattoon, C F Mattoon and J B Mattoon.

Grandsons will serve their grandmother as pall bearers. Memorial contributions can be made to the Bell Tower Fund at the First United Methodist Church of Apache.
