Edna L. Kingsley, age 99, passed away on Wednesday, Feb. 23, 2005, at Meriter Health Care Center. She was born in Wonewoc on Feb. 5, 1906, the daughter of Grover and Lucy (Naglus) Kingsley. Edna moved to Madison in 1925, where she worked at Reitan Lerdahl Insurance Company until her retirement. She sold Avon products for many years. Edna was an excellent dancer, dancing with the Arthur Murray Troop, and winning several awards. She loved all animals, especially birds and cats, and was known as "the bird lady." Edna is survived by her brother, Edsel (Eleanor) Kingsley of Madison; a niece, Marcia (Al) Phillips of Janesville; two nephews, James (Sydney) Kingsley of Madison, and John (Brenda) Kingsley of Portage; three step-nephews, Grant (Linda) Dekker of Virginia, Richard Dekker of Green Bay, and Paul Dekker of Lodi; several great-nieces; and great-nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Maisel Thorne and Paula Niemer; brother, Norman Kingsley; and step-nephew, Garry Dekker. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 27, 2005, at CRESS FUNERAL HOME, 3610 Speedway Road, Madison, with the Rev. Jerry Amstutz officiating. Friends may greet the family from noon until the time of service on Sunday. Private family burial will be held in Roselawn Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to the Dane County Humane Society, 5132 Voges Road, Madison, WI 53718.
