Wenona Sylvian Sherman, 86, of Franklin, NC, passed away Thursday, February 14, 2013.

Born in Bee Springs, KY, she was the daughter of the late Sheldon Cedar Merritt and Nannie G. Gibson Merritt. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Carl Lynwood Sherman, Sr.; two sons, Carl Lynwood Sherman Jr. and Richard Henry Sherman; grandson, Ronald Steven Sherman Jr; great-grandson, Nathan "Skeet" Moore and a brother, Sheldon Cedar Merritt Jr. Wenona worked at Canal Point Elementary School in the cafeteria. She also worked at the Stop & Shop in Canal Point, FL and was co-owner of Port Mayaca Trading Post with her husband from 1966-1993. She was a member of Canal Point United Methodist Church.

She is survived by her son, Ronald Steven Sherman, Sr. of Otto, NC; Grandchildren Sabrina Moore of Salem SC,William James Sherman of Franklin,Olivia Renee Sherman of Franklin, Veronica Lee Sherman of Canal Point Florida ,Carla Pat Davis of Casselberry Florida, Kimmie Saporito of Wildwood Florida, Chris Sherman of Citrus Springs Florida And her youngest Grandchild Dylan Nicholas Sherman of Otto North Carolina. Also several great-grandchildren.

A Memorial Service will be held at a later date in Canal Point, FL.
