Residence Cleveland County NC; a 21 year-old Farmer.
Enlisted on 5/16/1861 at Cleveland County, NC, on 5/22/1861 he was mustered into Captain A.W. Burton's Company, Williams' Regiment, North Carolina Volunteers as a Private. (This company subsequently became "E" Co. NC 12th Infantry.)
He was Killed In Action in the Battle of Spotsylvania Court House, VA.

The 12th Infantry Regiment, formerly the 2nd Volunteers, was organized near Garysburg, North Carolina, in May, 1861. Its companies were drawn from the counties of Warren, Granville, Catawba, Cleveland, Nash, Duplin, Halifax, and Robeson.
