PEORIA -- Mary Catharine Conger, 83, of 208 Barrington died at 6:03 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 19, 1995, at her residence.

Born May 5, 1912, in Lawton, Okla., to Colonel Ellsworth and Cynthia Anna Powley Cripe, she married Kenneth Vaughn Conger Sr. on March 13, 1935, in Peoria. He died July 27, 1983, in Peoria. She also was preceded in death by one brother, one granddaughter and one great- granddaughter.

Surviving are one daughter, Edythe Hargadine of Marianna, Fla.; four sons, William E. Sr. and Robert J., both of Peoria, Kenneth Vaughn Jr. of Clarksburg, Mo., and James R. of Memphis, Tenn.; 16 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Margaret Ayres of Chillicothe.

She was a lab assistant at Conger's Dental Lab for a number of years. Prior to that she worked in the housekeeping department at Methodist Medical Center.

She was a member of First English Lutheran Church, where services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday. The Rev. Warren D. Freiheit will officiate. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Woolsey-Wilton Funeral Home, and one hour before the services at the church. Burial will be in Swan Lake Memory Gardens in Peoria.

Memorials may be made to the Methodist Medical Center Hospice Program.
