Alice Holmes Atherholt, 68, of Concord, a former Penn Delco School District secretary, died May 11 at Riddle Memorial Hospital.

Born in Camden, N.J., she was the daughter of the late Herbert A. Holmes and Elsie Stockton Holmes. A resident of Concord for the last year and a half, she previously lived in Aston for 39 years.

Mrs. Atherholt was employed by Penn Delco School District as a secretary for 10 years before retiring in 1982.

A devoted and loving wife, mother and grandmother, Mrs. Atherholt was a member of Elam United Methodist Church and formerly belonged to Mount Hope United Methodist Church of Aston.

Surviving are her husband of 44 years, John R. Atherholt; a son, Keith D. Atherholt of Montoursville, Pa.; two daughtors, Barbara Atherholt Lacing of Paoli and Susan Atherholt Black of Petersburg, Ill; a brother, John S. Holmes of Earlville, Md. and seven grandchildren.

She also was the sister of the late Robert S. Holmes, who died in 1997.

The funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Mount Hope United Methodist Church, 882 Concord Road, Aston, where there is a calling hour after 1 p.m.

Burial is in the adjoining church cemetery.
