Ruth was a homemaker taking great pride in caring for her family. She was a communicant of Blessed Sacrament Church in Holyoke. Ruth leaves her husband of 65 years, George Hamel of Holyoke.
She leaves a son, Francis Hamel and his wife, Patricia of Easthampton; a daughter, Judith Farley and her husband, Andrew of Mystic; a sister, Irene Gosselin of Chicopee; four grandchildren, Jennifer Hamel of Holyoke, Daniel Wilson of Norwood, Jeffrey Hamel of Redwood City, CA, and Michael Wilson of Middletown; two great grandchildren, Kirsten and Emily Wilson both of Middletown.
The funeral will be held Friday at 9 a.m. from the Messier Funeral Home, 1944 Northampton St., Holyoke, MA, with a Mass of Christian Burial in Blessed Sacrament Church at 10 a.m. and burial in Notre Dame Cemetery. There will be a calling hour preceding the funeral from 8:30 - 9:30 a.m. on Friday.
