Somerset American, March 25, 1974, Pa. Adam J. Berkebile, 91, of Boswell RD 2, died March 23 at Somerset Community Hospital. Born May 15, 1882 in Wilbur, son of Jeremiah and Elizabeth Mangus Berkebile. Preceded in death by parents; first wife, Charlotte McClelland; second wife, Louise Kaltenbaugh Mangus; four children; six brothers and three sisters. He was the last surviving member of the Jeremiah Berkebile family. Survived by his widow, the former Thereas [sic] MacCone and these children: Gladys, wife of Robert Woods of Johnstown; Mildred, wife of William Luther of Dunedin, Fla.; Vernon J., married to the former Dorothy Penrod of Johnstown; Don A., married to the former Verda Waters of Johnstown; eight grandchildren and six great grandchildren. A self-employed contractor and a retired foreman of Bethlehem Steel Corp. of Johnstown. A member of St. Andrews's Lutheran Church, Boswell and a member of the Stoystown Chapter I.O.O.F. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at the R. Owen Ketterer Funeral Home, Geistown, where services will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday with the Rev. George Clark and the Rev.Gerald O. Bishop officiating. Interment Otterbein Cemetery, Wilbur.
