Selma graduated from Grand Island Senior High. She married and was a wife and homemaker and also worked at various times at Hesteds, Congers Jewelry, Gold Bond Stamp Store and the Grand Island Public Schools. She was a member of Messiah Lutheran Church and a past member of the Liederkranz.
She was survived by two sons, Robert and Jack and two daughters, Janice and Michel and 11 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
