Donald Eugene Walters
Don Walters was born Feb. 10, 1920 in Stahl, Mo. to parents George W. and Bessie (Novinger) Walters. He passed away Feb 9, 2013 in Puyallup Wa. at his home with loved ones by his side.
Don was a veteran of WW II, in the Navy attached to the submarine division for several years. He served on 5 different submarines. After the war ended he entered law enforcement, starting out as a patrolman in Wichita, Ks for a few years. Then they moved to El Cajon, Calif, where him and Marilee raised their two children, David and Shaun. He joined the El Cajon Police Dept. and worked there for many years, working his way up to Asst. Police Chief, when he retired Dec. 31, 1977.
They eventually moved to Washington state, and lived there for many years, and traveled a lot.One trip to Hawaii they were at a military musuem, and found a photo of Don cutting hair, which was one of his jobs on the sub. "Small World" sometimes.

He was preceeded in death by his parents, brothers: Francis and Ralph Walters and sister Marie Taylor (Walters)
When Marilee and Don were traveling in their fifth-wheel camper, and had just set it up for the night near Columbia, Mo, Don suffered a ceberal aniruism, and went down, a blood clot caused him to be paralyzed from the waist down, and he was in a wheel chair. Both him and Marilee made the most of this life changing event, and they adjusted with such courage, never complaining. I remember sister Marilee saying "he took care of me all these years, now it's my turn" We all admired them both so much. They were living in Morgan, Ga, at the time near their son David and daughter-in-law Carol Walters, they all adjusted Dave and Carol helped them so much.
He is survived by wife Marilee, son David and wife Carol Walters of Morgan, Ga and daughter Shaun and husband Kevin of Puyallup, Wa. grandchildren; Dennis, Lisa and Amber of Morgan, Ga. Eric, and Kristen , and ggrandchildren Celeste, and Kalaya also a host of friends and relatives. Don was creamated, no service is planned.Don and Marilee's ashes were scattered, on Mt.Rainier in the State of Washington, by their son David and daughter Shaun.
