The Oklahoman, Oklahoma City, Saturday, July 7, 1956:
Death Saturday night claimed Tom Cooper, 72, well-known Oklahoma automobile dealer, transportation company owner, rancher and dairyman. Cooper, ill the past 6 months, died Saturday afternoon in his home, 1500 Drury Lane. Funeral for Cooper, former president-owner of the Oklahoma Transportation Co here, will be at 11 am Monday in the Louise Prichard Chapel of First Baptist Church with burial in Rose Hill Cemetery under direction of Street & Draper Funeral Home.

At the time of his death, Cooper was in semi-retirement. He still held the Tom Cooper Dairy farms west of Ardmore, one of the largest dairy enterprises in the state. The son of George and Mary Cooper, he was born in 1883 in Parker Co, TX. Before entering business in OKC in 1922, Cooper had already established an automobile agency at Ardmore, and was active in ranching there. At various times he had several Ford dealerships in Oklahoma, was state distributor for Studebaker and owned a Nash dealership in OKC.

In 1922 he became vice president of the Oklahoma Transportation Co and later became the company's president and owner. Cooper was also a member of the board of directors of the First National Bank, and had oil holdings in the state. He was a Mason, and belonged to the Oklahoma City Golf & Country Club and the Rotary Club. Survivors are his wife, Eloise, of the home; two daughters, Mrs Robert F. Bowers, 227 NW 15; and Mrs John Kirkpatrick Jr, 1711 Camden Way, and three grandchildren.
