J.H. Bayne, 41, Dies Here Today
Johnson Harper Bayne, 41, lifelong resident of Greenville, SC, died at a local hospital at 8:30 o'clock this morning following three days of illness. The news of his death came as a shock to his many friends.
Mr. Bayne was a son of the late Johnson Bayne and Mrs. Mary Potts Bayne, and for some time had made his home at 19 Perry Avenue. He attended the Baptist church.
For a period of 10 years Mr. Bayne was with the Butler guards, serving for a time as second lieutenant. For the World War, he was with the regular army.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Elsie Austin Bayne, and by two daughters, Miss Lucille Bayne and Miss Irene Bayne, all of this city.At present, they are at the residence of Mrs. G.C. Cloninger, 203 South Franklin road, San Souci. Mrs. Cloninger being an only sister of Mr. Bayne.
His mother, Mrs. Mary Potts Bayne of Greenville also survives.
Funeral arrangements have not been completed, but will be announced from the offices of James F. Mackey & Sons, morticians. Pending completion of arrangements, the body is at the Mackey mortuary.
