John Lenoir was born William Henry "Henry" Land on May 13, 1858 in Gibson CO., Indiana to Judge William Mangrum Land and Sarah Elizabeth June Harmon. Henry did get into trouble with the law and left Indiana before the Spanish-American War in 1898. Henry assumed a new identity, served in the SP-AM War, lived in Lake Charles City, he married, had a family and at one time was a city policeman. He did stay in contact with some of his Land siblings. He married Alida/Lida Nick abt 1904 and had a son (George Trotti Lenoir Land 1905-1933). After Lida died in 1915, he married Flora Angel in 1921 and had John Edward Lenoir (1922-1945 WWII) and Ada Marion "Marion" Lenoir Pinkley (1924-1995).
