Graveside funeral services for Mrs. Bessie Geneva Bethel age 91 of Bonham will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday February 9, 2013 at the Sandy Cemetery with Rev. John Chisum officiating. Mrs. Bethel passed away Friday February 8, 2013 at the Sam Rayburn VA Nursing Home in Bonham.
Mrs. Bethel was born May 1, 1921 in Wolfe City, Tx. the daughter of Walter & Lula Mae Milner Turman. She married Elvie Wendell (Hop) Bethel on June 26, 1946 in Bonham, he preceded her in death on October 10, 1987. Mrs. Bethel served in the Women's Army Auxiliary Corps and received her honorable discharge on July 16, 1943, she was a homemaker and a member of the Church of Christ.
Survivors include her son Mike Bethel & wife Beverly of Bonham, 2 Grandchildren Justin Bethel & Lauren Bethel of Bonham. Mrs. Bethel was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brothers- Chester, Edwin, and Donald Turman, and sister Winnie Mae Clark.
Family visitation will be held Friday Feb. 8 from 7:00 – 8:00 PM at Cooper-Sorrells Funeral Home in Bonham.
