DONALD "DUCKY" L. BENJAMIN

WILLSEYVILLE - Donald "Ducky" L. Benjamin, 64, of 529 Prospect Valley Road, Willseyville, NY, died suddenly on Thursday, December 11, 1997, at Cayuga Medical Center after becoming ill at home.

Mr. Benjamin was born in Endicott, NY, on June 18, 1933, the son of Charles and Cecile Kimball Benjamin.

A lifelong resident of the area, he owned and operated Prospect Valley Greenhouse and Ceramics. He was a member of the Labor's Union Local 589, Ithaca, and served with the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict.

He was predeceased by his father, Charles Benjamin, Sr., and brothers, Norman and Leon Benjamin.

Ducky was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend who will be sadly missed.

In addition to his mother, Cecile (Peggy) Benjamin, he is survived by his wife of 36 years, Joyce A. Hartner Benjamin; his children, Sherry (Tom) Ink, Gary (Lori) Benjamin, Randy (Chris) Benjamin, Benny (Sue) Benjamin, and Rob (Rita) Benjamin; a close family friend, Bobby Kirk. He is also survived by a brother, Charles (Frances) Benjamin, Jr.; sisters, Marion (George) Leonard, Beverly Krauss, and Dorothy (Gary) Stroud; sisters-in-law, Donna Decker, Marcina (Louis) Lafreniere, and Mickey (Fred) Jurado; 21 grandchildren; 1 great-granddaughter; several nieces nephews, and cousins.

Friends are invited to call at the Candor Funeral Parlour, Inc., 137 Main Street, Candor, NY, on Sunday December 14, 1997 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Funeral and committal services will be held at the funeral home on Monday, December 15, 1997, at 11 a.m. with Reverend Philip Jordan officiating. Burial will be in Smith Valley Cemetery, Willseyville, NY, at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations in Mr. Benjamin's memory may be made to Blind Work Association of Binghamton, Inc., 55 Washington St., Binghhamton, NY 13901 or the American Heart Association Mid-State Region, 26 S. Washington St., Binghamton, NY 13903.
