Verna Lucille (Taylor) Walkington was born on November 19, 1924 and died on September 27, 2016 at the age of 91.
She married Lyle D. Walkington July 21, 1943. They lived on a farm in Blanchard MI. Verna was a special farmers wife. Her sense of humor, that she inherited from her dad, was one of the reasons for the longevity of their 73 year marriage.
She is survived by her husband Lyle; and her four children, Linda (Nathan) Jordan of Fremont, Sandra (Richard) Brown of Dimondale, Larry (Kathy) Walkington of Blanchard, and Gayla (Chris) Olsen of Ithaca; sister, Lois Root; a sister-in-law, Virginia Taylor; eleven grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Alson and Reva (Dush) Taylor, one sister, Irene Jensen, one brother, Richard Dean Taylor, one great-granddaughter and two great-great-grandsons.
Verna loved her home, family, friends, neighbors, flowers and the beauty of Gods Creation. She was known for the pretty scarves and colors. With her busy schedule she was community minded. She served on the Farm Bureau Board, participated in the kids school activities, Garden Club, and taught Sunday School for several years. Verna was a member of the United By Faith Christian Church in Wyman.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, October 1, 2016 from Brighams Funeral Chapel in Edmore MI with Pastor Richard Eldred to officiate. Interment will follow in Decker Cemetery, Blanchard, MI.
