She was born on July 31, 1918, in Tuscola, Illinois. She was the only child of Eva Pearl Watters and Clinton Joe Garrett.
Thelma attended school in Tuscola, IL and graduated in 1936. She worked as a secretary for Douglas County Farm Bureau and Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Illinois. She married James C. Henegar on March 20, 1941. They farmed for 40 years in Douglas County. They retired to Mesa, Arizona. J.C. passed away in 1996, and Thelma settled in Mt. Carmel to be near her son and her grandchildren.
She is survived by son, Wayne (Pam) Henegar, three granddaughters, Melissa (John) Dzikowski of Indianapolis, IN, Beth (Josh) Sherman of Indianapolis, IN, and Betsy (Daniel) Marshall of Newburg, IN. She was also blessed with 5 great-grandchildren who also survive.
Thelma was a member of Evangelical United Methodist Church of Mt. Carmel.
