The News, Cumberland, Maryland, Saturday 26 November 1977: "Midland - Patrick I. Stakem, 67, died Thursday in Sacred Heart Hospital, Cumberland. He was born here, a son of the late Thomas and Elizabeth (Mullan) Stakem. Mr. Stakem was a retired employe of Allegany Ballistics Laboratory and a veteran of World War II. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and the Holy Name Society. Survivors include his widow, Iona (Ward) Stakem; one son, Patrick H. Stakem, Greenbelt; two sisters, Mrs. Marie Mellor of Piedmont and Veronica Bell of Westernport; two brothers, Thomas Stakem of Sarasota, Fla., and John Stakem, Venice, Fla. Friends will be received at the Eichhorn Funeral Home, Lonaconing, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today and Sunday. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. Monday in St. Joseph Church with interment in the parish cemetery. The Rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home."
