Venoy James Turner was the son and oldest child of William Eugene Turner and Myrtle Iva Bryant Turner. He was born in Tabor, Alberta, Canada. His family moved to the United States when he was about 6 years old. He grew up in Lehi, Utah, Utah, United States. He grew up with his 3 sisters and 3 brothers. He did have a brother who was still born.

He met his future wife when he was a mechanic and she was a bookkeeper at Holly Auto. He married Eva Buhler on June 22, 1942. He was a car mechanic for most of his life. He retired from Gene Harvey Chevrolette. He was also a custodian for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He and his wife had a farm and raised cucumbers and tomatoes to sell for years. At one time, Venoy had his own auto parts store.

He was about 5'8" tall. When young he had jet black hair and mustache. When he aged, they became gray by the age of 50. He was a strong man. He kept up on the news of the day by reading the entire newspaper every night.

They had 7 children, 5 girls and 2 boys. He was proud of all of them. 3 were redheads, 2 had brunette hair, and 2 were blondes.

He enjoyed dancing, bowling, camping, fishing, hunting, going out to dinner. He and his wife went dancing twice a week for many years. They were dance directors for their ward and stake (for the LDS church) for quite a while. He lived in Highland, Utah, Utah, United States for about 50 years in a home that he and his father built out of cement blocks. Venoy did the plumbing, wiring, and installation of the coal furnace.

He was quite a "fix it" man, repairing things like toasters, mix masters, vaccuums, and other items around the house.

When he and Eva moved, they moved into a double wide trailer in a park for the elderly.
