Bleistein served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was the husband of Theda Kellenberger Bleistein. They observed their 22nd wedding anniversary in July.
Born in Trevorton, he was the son of the late Charles and Ida Bonenberger Bleistein.
Surviving in addition to his wife are a daughter, Wanda M., wife of Leo Nikolaus of Lancaster; a stepdaughter, Dona, wife of Holmes "Homer" Mylin of Willow Street; two brothers, Charles of Chester, and James of Trevorton; a sister, Margaret, wife of William Hutchen of Lansdowne; two grandchildren; and one stepgrandchild.
