William Jay Baker, 42, of Newton died Friday, Sept. 29, 2006.

A funeral service will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Wallace Family Funeral Home in Newton with the Rev. Gary Marzolf of First United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be at a later date.

The son of Calvin Jackson and Doris (Smith) Baker, he was born Feb. 26, 1964, in Muscatine. He graduated from Burlington High School in 1982.

On June 1, 1985, he married Jeanna M. Talbott in New London.

He worked in the injection molding department at Ball Plastics in Ames and was a member of First United Methodist Church.

He enjoyed coin collecting, fishing and being an entrepreneur. He grew up in Burlington and was a resident of Newton the past 11 years.

Survivors include his wife;
two daughters, Natalie Baker and Nicole Baker, both of Newton;
a sister, Peggy Denton of Marshalltown;
two sisters-in-law and their husbands, Janelle and Dan Michels of Cedar Rapids and Jolene and Blake Hazen of Grand Ledge, Mich.;
four brothers and two sisters-in-law, Gary Baker of Burlington, Dale Baker of Marshalltown, John and Vickie Baker of Parkview and Jim and Kim Baker of Burlington;
and his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Jerry and June Talbott of Mount Union.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Charles Baker and Carl Dean Baker.
